Social Media and the Church: Google reader Sharing

I want to know what your reading! I love to read ideas, thoughts and random blurbs for a wide range of people. Just as fun for me to know is what your reading and what you think is cool, creative and exciting. We get great ideas by sharing thoughts and ideas with other s and letting them add to the ideas. It just like a creative meeting except with 1000's of people online. Google reader has added a great new feature that allows us to share the blogs we think are worth sharing as well as comment on them with your thoughts. I read a ton of blogs and so do a lot of you. I don't always read the blogs your read but I want to know about the ones you think are cool, creative, smart or just funny. It's all about growing the kingdom! All you have to do is:



Sign up for Google reader



Add some feeds to your reader


Under each feed is button to share


Find a post you think is worth sharing and click the share button under it


Find other people like you or even people different from you and read their shared items



Have fun being creative with 1000's of people

Thursday Tip

I had a friend ask me today how to share Youtube videos on Facebook and Twitter. Youtube has made sharing its videos very simple.

When you upload a video it gives you the opportunity to share that video on Facebook, Google Reader and Twitter. Once your on the screen to upload your video you should see the links to connect to Facebook, Google reader and Twitter. Simply use the links to sign on to your accounts and your done. Every time you upload a video it will let all of your friends know, so they can watch it.




If you want to share some one else video you can do this by clicking the share link under the video screen. You will find links to several social networking sites. Click on the one you want use. Sign into your account follow the prompts and the video will be uploaded.



To embed a video on your blog, copy and paste the code next the word embed on the right of the video. Then find the HTML section of you blog and paste the code.

Thusdays Tip- Share Google reader Articles with Facebook friends

I love to read blogs! I read them all of the time and when I find a cool one I share it with my friends on Facebook simply using google reader and Facebook's share tool.

1. Set up a Google reader account and add some feeds to you account

2. Under an article that you like click the share button.

3. On the left hand side of Google reader there is a shared items link click it

4. In the shared item view there is a link to "see your shared items in another window" click it



5. In the new window copy the URL of the new page you created

6. Go to Facebook and sign in. Then go to your profile

7. Under the text box that says "whats on your mind" there is a button that says settings. Click it




8. Then click the option for Blog/RSS



9. Past the link you just copied and click import.

It is that easy! Now you can Share your favorite blogs with your Facebook friends

Top 10 Tuesday

Evey Tuesday I list 10 of my favorite things in a category so can get know me a little better and maybe learn something.
Today's list is my top ten favorite online services. These are services that are provided online and for the most part are free.

1. Google Reader- All of your feeds one place. The best feed reader out there if you ask me which nobody did.
2. Evernote- There Slogan is remember everything and they really do help you remember stuff
3. Remember the Milk- Speaking of Remembering. This task list will email and text you as many reminders as you like. Great Iphone app too
4. Gmail- Now we have come to the Google portion of this list. Gmail is my mail service and I would not have it any other way.
5. Google Docs- Microsoft Office Online wherever you are! Kind of.
6. GCal- My online Calendar and Planner
7. Ebay- Sell your stuff and get cash. Now if they could just lower those fees.
8. Paypal- More than just Ebay payments trust me.
9. Blogger- I know there are other blogging sites this is just my favorite.
10. You send it- Large Email attachments? You send it will send them all.

Okay I love to read blogs. I read them all the time. I love free stuff, tutorials and different opinions on subjects. I want to share all the cool things I find but I cannot email every link I come across to every one. Well I came across (and I know this is not new) my Google reader shared page.
